Arrive in Delhi : Check into your choice of hotel, preferably in
Central Delhi.
02 Full day sight seeing of the
Manali & Kullu Valley.
03 Manali - Batal (3960M).
Cross over the Rohtang Pass (3978 M). Amidst the Scenic beauty the
road slowly winds upto the Jot, locally known as Mound of Skull. The
lush green valley changes dramatically to the barren landscapes as we
drive up. Atop the jot awaits a panoramic view of bare rocks, snow
fields and glaciers. Drive further in the north east direction
following the Chandra river into the Lahaul Valley. A distance of app.
130 Km will take up time of Six Hrs. Batal is the Base camp for the
Kunzum la pass. O/NT Batal
04 Batal - Chandra Tal (4270
M) - 6 hr./ Moderate Grade. First Day trek is long, heading in the
north axis with an initial
Climb to the Kunzum la pass 4551M and levelling off at Chandra Tal.
The rivulets feed the lake from the Spiti valley. This lake is
famous for its high altitude beauty. It is one of the highest
inhabited
lakes in the world (by fish).
05 At Chandra Tal. Enjoy
the peaceful atmosphere of the lake and explore the surroundings. We
need this day to acclimatise. There is enough scope for sight seeing,
especially for Photography. Early morning is the prime time with the
satellite of snow covered peaks reflecting there beauty in the still
water.
06 Chandra Tal - Tokpo
Gongma (4320 M) - 5 hrs/ Easy grade. Follow the River Chandra
upstream in the Northwest direction to Tokpo Yongma. Cross streams
enroute The water flowing can be extreme low in the temperature at
this height thus some navigation skill are required adding thrill of
adventure.
07 Tokpo Gongma - Tokpo
Yongma (4640 M) - 5 hr./ Moderate Trekking. Again follow the river
Chandra upstream on a gradual climb in the north west direction.
Awesome hanging glaciers are visible on all sides. You can get a
superb view of the Mulkila mountain range.
08 Tokpo Yongma - Base of
Baralacha La - 5 hr./ Moderate Grade. While trekking, enjoy the
view of the KR ranges with peaks over 20,000 ft. The valley leading to
the Baralacha Pass is very
wide.
09 Baralacha Base -
Baralacha La (4830 M) - Suraj Tal (4800 M) - 5 hr./ Moderate to
steep grade. After a short gradual climb, we will reach the Baralacha
La at 16,000 ft. This is the highest point of our trek. The arctic
like topography of this area is fascinating, with wide glaciated
spaces. At the top of the pass are crossroads to Ladakh, Zanskar,
Lahaul and Spiti.
The Manali - Leh highway crosses
this pass. We descend from the Pass to camp at Suraj Tal.
10 Suraj Tal - Manali -
6 hr./ Moderate Grade. We return to Manali by road via Lahaul valley
along Bhaga River, re crossing Rohtang La on the way.
11 At leisure in Manali.
We deserve a day of rest! Local sight seeing can be done today.
12 Manali - Dharamsala -
235 Km. Drive to Dharamsala and see the Tibetan settlements. Visit the
seat of the Dalai Lama. O/NT Dharamsala.
13 Dharamsala - Chandigarh
- 252 Km. After lunch drive to Chandigarh. O/NT Chandigarh.
14 Early morning 0600 Hrs Board
the train to Delhi. Arrive Delhi. Sight seeing of the Delhi.
Connect to the International flight for Home destination.
