At last! In
1985 the Nepal Tibet border opened and the long awaited
opportunity, access to Tibet from Nepal, presented it self.
There is probably on more thrilling a travel experence than a
journey to Tibet, the very Roof of the World; For those who have
longed to view the great soaring peaks of the Himalaya from the
north and who yearned to explore the potala palace and mingle with
Tibetans whose lifestyle is stil steeped in tradition these
experiences can now be combined with a visit to Nepal.Kathmandu
and Lhasa- a very exciting combination.
From the vast and magnificent isolation of the Tibetan plateau
around Mt Kailash. Tibets holiest mountain; to the spectacular
north faces of Shishapangma and Mt Everest and the fabulous
monasteries of Tashilumpo, mysteres of Tibet unfold before us as
we explore a land closed to foreigners for the past forty years.
Even before Tibet's exposure to the modem world barely a handful
of visitours penetrated this forbidden and forbiddign land.
